PDFBendigo and District Aboriginal Co-operative (BDAC) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) delivering services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of the Dja Dja Wurrung catchment in Victoria Australia. Driven by excellence, BDAC are delivering programs across core areas of health, education, employment, culture, community development, capacity building projects, family and community services.
BDAC’s approach is to facilitate and take leadership in achieving positive outcomes with and for the community. As an ACCO, BDAC is registered as a member under the Umbrella of VACCHO (Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation) and represented nationally through NACCHO (National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation).
Why we exist
The community members of the Dja Dja Wurrung area identified the need for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander specific programs and services to assist the community, in 2001, BDAC was established to offer culturally appropriate, safe and accessible services and programs within the Dja Dja Wurrung catchment. BDAC’s services have been researched and developed to reflect the ever so changing social, economical and policy environment leading the community towards change, acceptance and self-determination.
